Dear Comrades,
As per Holiday List for 2012, 08.03.2012 is declared as Holiday on
account of Holi. Several queries have been made whether the date can be
changed to 09.03.2012 on which Holi will be practically observed in
Odisha Circle. It is understood from the Circle Office that there will
be no change in the date of Holiday on account of Holi already declared.
That means, 08.03.2012 will be observed as Holiday on account of Holi
in Odisha Circle. This is in accordance with the instruction contained
in DOPT Letter No.F.12/3/2011-JCA-2 dated 27.06.2011 which stipulates
that no change is permissible in regard to festival and dates (except
Muslim festivals which depend on the appearance of moon.)
