Dear Comrades,
The state President of Centre of India Trade Union (CITU) K.N.
Raveendranath has said that the implementation of neo-liberal economic
policies like globalization and liberalization have forced the workers
of the country to unite to fight against it as it went against their
interest very badly.
Inaugurating the state conference of National Federation of Postal
Employees (NFPE) at Town Hall here on Sunday he said that this is
evident from the all-India strike of workers in February this year where
trade unions irrespective of political differences joined hands to
oppose the economic policies of the Central government as it adversely
affected the interests of workers and the common people in the country.
He said that such unity of trade unions is taking place in other
countries also where the neo-liberal economic policies are implemented.
He said that in some countries where the neo-liberal economic policies
were implemented is turning to Marxism as a correct economic policy and
political philosophy. This shows that Marxism has not become outdated as some people propagate, the CITU leader has said.
He said that despite the opposition from various sections of the people
the Central government is not ready to reverse the neo-liberal economic
policies followed by them.
There are attempts to do away with the public sector and allow private sector to take its place.
In the postal sector the Government is trying to corporatize even the postal savings net work, he alleged.
The meeting was presided over by NFPE Kerala Circle Vice Chairman H.V. Kurup.
