State's first 'all women post office' inaugurated in Jamshedpur

The first 'all women post office' of
Jharkhand was inaugurated in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. "The decision to
open such post offices across the country was taken on International
Women's Day. The services provided by the postal department has become
multifarious worldwide now," Chief Post Master General of Jharkhand A S
Prasad said after inaugurating the 'all women post office' at Sakchi in
Jamshedpur.
He said one such post office would be opened in all
the divisions of the state soon and postal department would sign a MoU
with agencies concerned to distribute solar lamps through the post
offices.
Postal department was also in the process of providing
core-banking solution services tentatively from the middle of September,
he said. Prasad said that Instant Money Order (IMO) launched about two
years ago could not pick up as yet. IMO was mainly aimed to protect the
money of the migrant laborers of the country and 225 post offices of the
country were uploaded with the facility, he said.
