Dear Comrades,

was organized at the office of the postmaster general, Allahabad, on
Friday. The seminar was followed by a special programme to felicitate
winners of various competitions organised by the Department of Posts.
Addressing the gathering, the director of Postal Services, Allahabad
region, Krishna Kumar Yadav said Hindi has a significant role to play in
keeping Indian culture intact. If Hindi is to be popularized and
developed into a global language, then there is a need to assimilate
Hindi in our day-to-day life and not use it only in programmes, he said.
He said more than 150 universities across the world are teaching
Hindi. Now books in Hindi are available in almost all fields of study
while trend of regional newspapers has also grown, he added. Besides,
the number of websites in Hindi is also increasing everyday and many IT
companies have started projects in Hindi.
 He said there was lack
of uniformity in Hindi due to use of various fonts but after the
introduction of Unicode for Hindi in 2003, expansion and use of the
language has gained momentum. This is evident in the fact that a number
of Hindi magazines and newspapers are also publishing their e-version,
he said.
Presiding over the programme, senior superintendant,
Posts, Rahmatullah said Hindi is our mother tongue and official language
and to ensure its wide reach among the people, its use on technological
 level is required.
