New post offices to come up near LoC: Chief Postmaster General

Srinagar, Apr 24: Chief Postmaster General J&K Circle, John Samuel on Tuesday, said new post offices would be set up in the frontier areas near Line of Control (LoC) and four more mobile post offices would come up along 300-km Srinagar-Jammu Highway.

India Post offers 6% discount on gold coins

NEW DELHI: India Post is offering a six percent discount on gold coins on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya across its 31 designated post offices in the national capital.

"You are entitled to a flat discount on the purchase of gold coins of any denomination. The coins are available in denominations of 0.5, 1, 5, 8, 10, 20 and 50 gm of 24 carat with 99.99 percent purity," the ministry of communications and IT said in a statement.

Postal dept to hold football tournament in Srinagar

Dear Comrades,

Srinagar: Department of Posts will hold an All India Postal Football tournament at Bakshi stadium here in August this year, Chief Postmaster General John Samuel said today.

"For the first time in the history of Postal Services in Jammu and Kashmir, All India Postal Football Tournament will be held in Srinagar. Football teams across India will be participating in the tournament," Samuel told reporters.

The tournament will be conducted in association with Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, he said.


Samuel also announced that India Post will be holding Speed Post Football Tournament, Postal Life Insurance Cricket Tournament and India Post Badminton Tournament during this year.

 "All these events will be open to other government departments and institutions also," he informed.

Subject:- Revision in Interest Rates of Small Savings Schemes w.e.f 1st April 2012.

Sir / Madam,

The undersigned is directed to refer to this office SB Order No.4/2012 vide which it was conveyed that

MOF(DEA) vide its OM No. 6-1/2011-NS-II (Pt.) dated 26.03.2012, has revised interest rates of Small Savings

Schemes from 1st of April 2012. Revise interest rates were also conveyed.

2. It is further informed that maturity value of a 5 Years RD account opened on or after 1.4.2012 with

monthly deposit of Rs.10/- shall be Rs.746.51 and in case of 5 Years NSC VIII-Issue, maturity value of a

certificate of Rs.100/- purchased on or after 1.4.2012 shall be Rs. 152.35 after 5 years. In case of 10 Years NSCIX-Issue, maturity value of a certificate of Rs.100/- purchased on or after 1.4.2012 shall be Rs.238.87.

3. This is for information of the field staff as well as general public and Notifications will be circulated as and when received from MOF(DEA).
