India Post will inaugurate Pack Post centre on the Coimbatore Head Post office premises on Monday.
According
to a release from the department, the centre will be a one-stop
solution for all those who want to send parcels. Registered parcels,
VPP, insured, speed post and express parcels can be sent from the
centre. The materials required for packing, such as bubble sheets,
carton boxes, cloth covers, thermocol, cloth wrapping, strapping
machine, shredder and sealing machines will be available at the centre.
Trained personnel will pack the parcels in the presence of the customers
and ensure that it is tamper proof and safe for transport. Other
amenities such as pick up of parcel, tracking of the parcel movement,
door delivery in Coimbatore, and late hour booking will also be
available.
An official of the department told
The Hindu
on Friday that the facility will be available for all kinds of parcel
services. Customers will have to just bring the product to be sent to
the centre and it will be packed for them.
Items prohibited under the Indian Post Office Act will not be accepted. Charges will depend on the kind of packing used.
The
facility is available in Chennai and Madurai and has tremendous
response from those who wanted to send parcels to their friends and
relatives abroad. The department plans to start the centre soon in Salem
too.
The focus will be on retail customers.
