Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle has launched
"Gift Post Service" for sending gifts to the kith, kin and friends on
the Deepawali. This was disclosed by Chief Post Master General, J&K John
Samuel, while addressing a press conference here today. He said Department of
Posts is reaching out to the public to fulfill their needs and has been making
special arrangements for the festival mails for last many years. This is an
effort on the part of India Post to strengthen its bonding with public. The
Chief Postmaster General informed that for the first time in state specialized
arrangements for delivery of gift items will be available at Gandhi Nagar Head
Post Office, Srinagar GPO, Jammu Market, Jammu Cantonment and Jawahar Nagar
(Srinagar) Post Offices. "Post offices are not only meant for mail
solutions, in fact they have taken a lead as compared to other institutions by
offering variety of services and delivery of gifts to one's near and dear ones
also as part of its endeavour to serve the people" PMG added. He further said
that in connection with Deepawali Festival special arrangements has been made
for receipt and delivery of greeting cards at all the major post offices of
J&K. While extending his greetings to the people of state on the occasion
of Deepawali, Samuel expressed confidence that Department's latest offerings
will surely add to their happiness.
