JK to have first Postal Training Centre

Dear Comrades,

Jammu, Sep 3: In an effort to boost infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir and create employment opportunities for the youth, India Post has decided to establish first Postal Training Center (PTC) in the State.

Sources said Government of India has already approved the project sent by Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle few months back and earmarked Rs 11 crore for the establishment of the training center.

Sources added GoI has also sent a formal requisition to Jammu and Kashmir government in this regard and requested for providing 20 to 25 acres of land at the earliest so that the work on prestigious project is started.

With the establishments of PTC, Jammu and Kashmir will be able to boost the economy of the state as postal department conducts at least three career development opportunities for its employees under National Training Policy-2012 and this centre will be helpful in providing training to the departmental workforce hailing from other parts of the country, sources said.

“After the establishment of this centre, the employees of neighboring states like Punjab, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh will come here for training. Presently such employees are sent to training at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh,” sources said.

When contacted, John Samuel, the outgoing Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir Circle, confirmed the development and said that the department was keenly following the developments on the prestigious project and was in contact with both central as well as state government for its earlier realization.

The center, he said, will have the capacity of more than 400 candidates in one batch.
