Post offices to market coolers

A.N. Nanda, Postmaster General-Western Region taking a look at the low cost 'refrigerator' Godrej's 'chotukool' to be sold through Post Offices, in Coimbatore, on Friday.
India Post has signed an agreement with Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing to sell “Chotukool”, a low cost cooling solution from Godrej, through post offices, Post Master General of Western Region A.N. Nanda said here on Friday after launching the sale here.

The product would be sold at nearly 3,000 post offices in the Western Region, covering Coimbatore, Pollachi, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and the Nilgiris Districts. Mr. Nanda said these would include head post offices, sub post offices and branch offices. The product is priced at Rs. 3,790 a piece. The post offices will accept orders from the public, collect the amount by cash, and deliver the product through Express Parcel Post facility.

The product is a thermoelectric cooler to preserve vegetables, milk, and water. It is suitable for residential and small commercial outlets.

The sale is already on in Salem. Orders have been received for more than 20 coolers and two have been delivered.

A sample cooler will be on display at the post offices.
