PUNE: The department of posts, Pune region, is prepared to handle the flood
of new year greetings with an estimated 20 lakh additional letters likely to be
sorted out till January 10. The Pune region includes Pune city, Ahmednagar,
Solapur and Satara districts.
In post offices, special trays have been kept for Pune (411001-61), Mumbai
(400001-99), Pune district (410,412 and 413), Maharashtra and other states. All
the post offices in the Pune region have been instructed to keep adequate stock
of stamps and stationery to meet the surge in demand during the period.
The post offices have also been told to pre-sort the new year greeting mails,
prepare labeled bundles and close bags as per locations. Rubber stamps will be
put on check slips and bag labels to ensure new year mails are dispatched at the
earliest.
Bulk mailers have been urged to present their mails on the counters in
pre-sorted manner. Besides, they have been told to write clear and legible
address with PIN code numbers for fast and accurate delivery.
