JK to host All India Postal Cricket Tournaments

Srinagar, August 01:Jammu & Kashmir Postal Circle will be hosting All India Cricket Tournament at Srinagar from 1st to 05th October this year.

This was disclosed by John Samuel, Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir. After successfully hosting the All India Athletic tournament in the year 2011 and the All India Football Tournament in the year 2012, JK is all set to host All India Cricket tournament during this year.

 “JK Postal circle has been involved in the development of Sports in J&K through hosting of All India events. It brings J&K on the sports map of the country and its ability to host All India Events in an excellent way,” Samuel said.

 “Postal Cricket team from all the states will be participating in the national event and this brings pride and honour to the State,” he said.

He added that besides hosting of All India Sports Events, JK Postal circle has been much involved in the development of Sports in the state through recruitment of staff under Sports Quota.

 “Last year, Recruitment in various categories of Sports in various Postal divisons was held. This year again, the department is planning to recruit staff under Sports Quota. The process for recruitment is underway in some posts already. Ten people will be recruited under Sports Quota, five each in Srinagar and Jammu during this year,” Samuel said

 “The Postal Department has formed teams in Football and Cricket and has recently done well in All India Events. The persons recruited under Sports Quota will add strength to the teams. The Department also constitutes its teams in Table Tennis and Badminton also,” he added.
