Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and rural postal life insurance will soon provide the facility to buy policies online.
The PLI, which started operations in 1884, is now beginning its second phase of technology upgrade, Anjali Devasher, member, PLI, said at an award presentation ceremony here on Thursday. “Eight pilots have already been completed and the second phase will be implemented from October,’’ she said.

As part of this, online viewing of policies, premium payment options and downloading facilities would be provided, she added.
Under Financial Services Project of the Department, core insurance solutions system was being rolled out across 812 head post offices and other sub-post offices.
In the first phase this was already rolled out in more than 100 post offices.
As of date, the number of live policies in PLI and RPLI was 28 million with the corpus size of over ₹49,000 crore.
