ALLAHABAD: The postal department has decided to ensure that rakhis adorn the wrist of brothers this Rakshabandhan. The department on Friday declared that all delivery post offices of the state, including Allahabad, would function on Sunday, i.e, on Rakshabandhan (August 10) to deliver and dispose Rakhi Mails.
Director, postal services Allahabad region, Krishna Kumar Yadav said, "Efforts are underway to deliver all Rakhi Mails. Postmen will deliver rakhis at the doorstep of people even on Sunday."
As thousands of rakhis are being received for delivery every day, postal department claimed to have deployed adequate staff for the purpose.
Yadav, meanwhile, maintained that around 40,000 rakhis were being delivered daily by post offices in Allahabad alone. He added, "We are making attempts to ensure that each and every rakhi reaches its destination on or before the special day."
