India Post and Western Union extend relationship for three more years

Dear Comrades,

The Department of Post (India Post) and Western Union have renewed their long standing relationship for offering money transfer services for another three years. With India Post offering Western Union Money TransferSM Services across more than 7,000 locations in the country, the extension of the relationship means continued convenience of sending and receiving money for millions of Indians.

India Post has over 80% of their locations in the remotest corners of the country catering to a large number of unbanked population. The India Post locations offering Western Union Money TransferSM Services have a greater balance in rural India –making it easier for families and loved ones to collect their remittances virtually down the street or in towns they live in.

Commenting on the occasion, Kiran Shetty, Managing Director -India, Western Union said, “India Post is an integral part of the Western Union Agent network in India and our long tenured association has helped to improve and facilitate access to official channels for millions of Indian families relying on family support from loved ones working and living overseas.”

India Post is the world’s largest postal network with over 155,000 post offices; with a significant presence across rural India. Western Union has over 450,000 Agent locations across 200 countries and territories.

The continued relationship will only provide convenience to consumers in the remotest parts of India to receive money from their local Post offices with an even stronger brand association.

“Trust is an elementary attribute for money matters and predominantly so when you transfer hard earned monies that ultimately goes to build families, communities and finally future generations of India,” added Shetty.
