The objective of the Stamps of India National Exhibition is to provide a platform to showcase new ideas and concepts in philately and to bring a creative and new approach to stamp collecting. There will be exhibits which the conventional exhibitions do not include like frugal philately that provides an opportunity for the collectors to display interesting item, enhance their philatelic skills and to encourage those who are put off exhibiting, social philately where material other than stamps can be exhibited and picture postcards.
This is the fourth national being organized in Delhi. The earlier shows were organized by India Post including the first ever national philatelic exhibition in India in 1970, the 4th national in 1982, and by Bharatiya Daktikit Sangstha in 2010.
According to Savita & Madhukar Jhingan, "the initiative of the Stamps of
India is to create an awareness among the youth to pursue the educative hobby of
philately as it can make your studies more interesting, it can be rightly said –
Every Stamp has a story to tell." "SINE" is an unlimited excitement to bring
back the joy of possession and once again renew your resolve to collect
stamps.
"Joy of Possession" is one phrase you will often hear from stamp collectors and philatelists. Stamp collecting is the world's most popular hobby having more than 20 million collectors in the United States alone. Many stamp collectors accumulate stamps for sheer enjoyment and relaxation without worrying about learning tiny details. Philately involves more than just stamp collecting as it is the study of stamps and postal history and other related items. It consists of acquiring specific items based on a particular interest of the collector. It includes seeking, locating, acquiring, organizing, cataloguing, displaying, storing, and maintaining whatever items are of interest to the individual collector.
