IMPHAL, December 30: Manipur Postal Department has presented advance New Year 2016 gift to Ningthounai, Yairipok in Thoubal by opening a new Branch Post Office at the village.
According to a release issued by Manipur Postal Division, Vinod Kumar Director (Posts) Manipur inaugurated the newly built post office by cutting ribbon during which he congratulated the villagers as their village has got connected with more than 1,54,000 post offices of India post which is the world largest network of post offices.
Mustofa Ahamed will be the Branch Postmaster of the new office and Md. Ruhid will work as Mail Carrier-cum-Mail Delivery. Kumar expressed happiness on the occasion of bringing a Post Office closer to the people of the area and said that people can book Speed Post letters and parcels from the office instead of going to Yairipok Sub Post Office or Imphal Head Post Office which is far away. Announcing that all social security schemes will be publicised through this post office, the Director appealed to the members of the public to insure their lives of sum assured of Rs. 2 lakhs with Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana by subscribing with just Rs 1 per month.
The release said those with girl child can join Sukanya Samrridhi Yojana which gives an interest rate of 9.2 percent compounded half yearly. If a parent or guardian can deposit Rs.1000 per month under this social security scheme, he or she can get maturity amount of Rs.6, 16, 000 approximately at the end of 21 years, it said.
Gandhi ME Manipur described the benefits to the gathering about rural postal life insurance scheme. Karambir threw light on Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojna under which a person having savings bank account with Post office can get insurance cover of Rs 2 lakhs for accident.
Anwar from DO Manipur explained all benefits of savings account in post office. All locals including Mohd Qasim, retired Sub-Inspector of Police also spoke on the occasion and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the postal officers for bringing the services of Post Office to their doorstep.
He also mentioned that it would greatly reduce the pain of going to a far off post office and the local residents can also save their earnings easily through Post Office Saving schemes. Md Nasir Ahmed, Inspector (Posts); Alhaj Abdur Rashid, retired teacher; Mohd Alauddin, retired SPM; Alhaj Moulana Sahid, religious scholar; Apikpi and Meena Member of Yambem Gram Panchayat were present at the occasion.
