Dear Comrades,
The PLI Directorate vide it's order has permitted all the computerised post offices in the Country to accept PLI or RPLI premium without transfer of policy. The Insurant in this case need not apply to it's Regional Office for obtaining permission to deposit elsewhere other than the parent post office. It is certainly a welcome step for decreasing file work and consumption of time. However, the procedure for obtaining permission for depositing in a manual operated post offices will need permission letter issued from the competent authority before accepting premia from the Insurant falling under other POs jurisdiction.
However, the counter PAs should collect the premium with proper care to enter correct policy number without mistake as there will be no online validation of the policy number. In case, the policy number is entered incorrect, the premium will still be accepted by the system, but will be kept as 'Unposted'.
The PLI and RPLI Insurants are requested to intimate their Name, Policy Number along with Personal Cell Phone Number to the concerned Divisional Office so that the same can be entered against their policy in the online software and the Department of Posts in due course of time will provide SMS facility to the Insurants intimating them matters related to their current policies.
