India Post officials said major city post offices, including the ones on Mount Road, T Nagar, Park Town and Mylapore, would be among the first to offer the services. "The online centres will provide services including passport applications, employment exchange registration, online application for learner's license and any online service offered by the government," Venkataraman said. India Post is in the process of forging tie-ups with various government departments including the directorate of employment and training and transport department to integrate their online services. The services to be launched on Tuesday will be provided on a pilot basis before extending them to all India Post centres.

CHENNAI: Trying to reinvent and remain relevant in the times of the internet, India Post will launch online services for offline customers on Tuesday. RVenkataraman, senior superintendent of post offices, Chennai city region, said that the service be an interface for customers who need to access public services online, including birth and death certificates. The customer care wing of India Post will handle the facility to be made available at 20 head post offices and 12 sub post offices in the city.
