Infosys signs deal with India Post : The project will allow more than 130,000 rural post offices to offer online services

Dear Comrades,

Bangalore: India’s second largest software exporter, Infosys Ltd, has signed a deal with India Post to manage its rural operations platform, months after it signed a separate deal with the state-run postal network that was the biggest financial services contract ever for an Indian information technology (IT) services company.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

This project will allow more than 130,000 rural post offices to offer online services, as well as connect and manage more than 130,000 mobile handsets used by rural postal workers to process electronic money orders and other services, Infosys said in a statement.

“We are very happy to partner with Infosys on one of the largest transformational journeys India Post has ever undertaken. We are confident that Infosys will help make the rural systems integration project a success,” India Post said in a statement.

Infosys will deploy its core banking software Finacle and other mobile platforms such as mConnect to service this contract.

Last year in August, Infosys signed an agreement to modernize India Post’s banking and insurance operations across 150,000 post offices in the country. The project is estimated to be worth about Rs.700 crore.

“India Post has been a key driver of the country’s socioeconomic development for over 150 years. This partnership will give us the opportunity to promote inclusive growth by helping to deliver services more efficiently to all citizens. We will use our proven technology leadership and innovation capabilities to build a platform that will transform India Post and enhance its reach significantly,” said C.N. Raghupathi, vice-president and head of India business at Infosys.
