Dear Comrades,
Love to write and tell a story? Want the world to read it, too? Here’s your chance to get your story read in the United Kingdom. India Post has come out with storytelling competition, with the stories told on a postcard!
‘Stories on a Postcard’ is a simple story writing competition. There’s no age bar. Buy a postcard and pick up a pen. And post it to participate.
“Postcards received will become part of an exhibition at the Storytelling Festival that will be held between October 10 to 13 in the UK and also at the exhibition to be held during the National Postal Week from October 9 to 15 in Mumbai,” said Shriniwas Vyavahare, India Post spokesperson.
Selected stories will be published in the form of a book in the UK. Leftover stories will be compiled in an e-book. This innovative concept is a tie-up with India Post, Katha Kosa-Mumbai and Settle Stories in UK. The idea is to promote storytelling and learning.
The only challenge is that the story has to fit on a single postcard. “People can write any kind of story. Contemporary, ancient, real or fiction. It can even be in poetry form, with verses,” said Vyavahare.
All an individual has to do is to visit the nearest post office, buy as many postcards as they want (there is no cap on the number of entries), pen the story
on the back of the card and post it to Katha Kosa, C/o General Post Office, Mumbai.
O! Forgot to mention that there’s no language barrier, either. People can send entries in any language, provided it fits in that single postcard. The writing should legible. “The entries should reaches us by September 15,” said the spokesperson.
Don’t forget to write your name, postal address, email address, contact numbers on the postcard. Only that would help India Post to contact the winners.
Postcards without this basic information will not allowed in the competition.
