ALLAHABAD: To ensure safe and timely delivery of Rakhis on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, the postal department has made special arrangements this year.
Postal services director for the Allahabad region, Krishna Kumar Yadav said that to ensure fast and safe delivery of rakhis, India Post had launched designer envelopes. These envelopes are water-resistant and available in sizes of 11cm x 22cm. They are priced at Rs 7, excluding postage charges.
Available in various designs, they are also resistant to wear and tear to provide higher protection during transmission, Yadav said.
The upper left-hand side of these light-weight envelopes caries the India Post logo and the word 'rakhi' in English to aid sorting. There is a special peel for easy seal that obviates the need for adhesive.
Place-specific letter boxes and special collection boxes have also been installed at post offices. Rakhis posted in these boxes are being dispatched the same day through special bags to ensure timely delivery.
This arrangement will be available up to 20 August.
