Srinagar, July 27: Department of Posts, is hosting Srinagar All India Postal Football Tournament in Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.
The tournament will be held for five days from August 25 to August 29. The arrangements for the tournament are being taken on war footing.
Addressing a press conference, John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, announced that it is a great opportunity for the entire J&K to have All India level Football competition in Srinagar. He informed that last year Department of Posts organized All India Postal Athletic meet in Srinagar after thirty six years that was conducted successfully in association with State govt., paving path for organizing All India Postal Football tournament in Srinagar for the first time. The tournament will afford an amazing experience to the participants to enjoy the unparalleled Beauty of Kashmir and to enjoy the hospitality of the people of Kashmir.
John Samuel said that while the J&K Postal Circle is taking initiatives to revive the Postal Services in entire J&K State to provide efficient service to the public, Department of Posts is also promoting sports activities. He said during the current year J&K Postal Circle will recruit sports persons associated with different sports activities under Sports Quota. Post Office in J&K has formed a Football team and the coaching camp has already begun. Apart from football, the Circle will also be organizing various Circle level events including Cricket, badminton, Carrom, Kabbadi, Cultural, Table tennis and Chess.
The tournament is being held in association with J&K Sports Council and J&K Football Association.
