Shekhar, Vishal, Rakhi shine in philately show contests

PATNA: The two-day exhibition of postage stamps on Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi at Rabindra Parishad drew thousands of footfalls on Tuesday and Wednesday.

At least 2,000 rare stamps were on display at the exhibition organized by Rabindra Parishad in collaboration with the postal department to commemorate the 100th year of Tagore's winning the Nobel Prize. A special cover on Tagore's last spring festival at Shantiniketan was also released at the exhibition.

In the philately exhibition, the participants included West Bengal's Shekhar Chakravarty and Malay Sarkar, Pradeep Jain, R K Mishra and M K Mishra.

A cultural programme and letter writing, essay writing and painting and stamp designing competitions were also organized in which hundreds of school students participated. Shekhar Anand's letter won the first prize while the second and third prizes went to Utkarsh Anand and Vivek Kumar respectively.

In essay writing competition, Vishal Kumar bagged the first prize while second prize was won by Utkarsh Anand. The third prize in this category was won by Nupur and the consolation prize was given to Manokamna.

Rakhi of B D Public School won the first prize in painting competition. The second prize in this category was won by Mamta Kumari and the third prize by Smriti Kumari.
