India Post to recruit Postmen, other staff in J&K

JAMMU: With the business volumes of India Post in Jammu and Kashmir has gone up by manifold in the recent years the Department of Posts has initiated process to recruit Postmen & other supporting Staff to meet the business requirements.

The department has called for applications from the eligible candidates (male as well as female) to fill up 55 posts lying vacant in different Post Offices in the Circle. This was informed by John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Chief PMG, the revenue of the J&K Circle has grown up by 37% during the financial year 2012-13 over the corresponding period and further expressed confidence that the pace of growth is expected to be continuing during the current fiscal also.

“The minimum qualification for the post of Postman and other supporting staff is matriculation. The selection will be done purely on merit, based on the marks obtained in the Aptitude Test to be conducted by the Department and there will be no interview for the purpose of selection” Samuel said adding that the last date of receipt of application forms is 19th of August 2013.

Postman is an ambassador of Department of Posts & his/her job is to serve the society by providing high quality postal services that meet the expectations of the customers. The role of Postman in Post Office is very significant with responsibility for Post Office operations, mail delivery, mail carriage and related postal services. Women are especially encouraged to apply and be the part of India Post. John Samuel announced that drive for recruitment of Gramik Dak Sevaks (GDS) will be undertaken shortly across the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The advertisement notice for the posts of Postmen and other supporting staff stands issued and applications forms are available at main Post Offices namely Jammu Head Post Office, Gandhi Nagar HO, Srinagar GPO, Udhampur HO, Rajouri HO, Kathua HO, Baramulla HO, Anantnag HO, Leh HO, Pulwama MDG, Kupwara MDG, Budgam SO, Ganderbbal SO, Bandipora SO, Kargil SO, Shopian SO, Samba MDG, Poonch MDG, Ramban SO, Reasi SO, Kishtwar SO & Doda MDG.
