Talking about the launch of India’s second all women post office, India’s minister for Communications and IT, said that this endeavour will strengthen the position of women.
The second all-women employees post office was inaugurated at the Delhi University on Thursday by Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal. Speaking on the ocassion, Sibal said the endeavour will effectively strengthen and position the role of women in society by showcasing excellent service levels to the customers.
According to reports, the post office situated in Delhi University's north campus has three counters. Two of the counters offer services like speed post, parcels, booking of e-money orders while the third one deals with savings bank operations. All counters are manned by women employees only with working hours from 9 am to 5 pm.
India’s Communications and Information Technology Minister said that all post offices across the country will be electronically connected in the next one and a half years. He said this will help generate more revenue for the government. Stating that the market share of speed postal services is increasing every year, he said the public postal system is all set to compete with the private sector as it has a broad and well-established network.
