Dear Comrades,
Chennai: In
order to create more awareness about the wild flowers present in the
countryside, the India Post department has brought out special edition
of stamps portraying these flowers. As many has 12 stamps of most
commonly seen wild flowers has been released.
“These
flowers are present even in the cities but very few care to know about
them, so we planned to introduce them to the people in form of stamps,”
said a postal department official.
Experts
in the field of botany said people have moved away from nature, as
urbanites are more involved with technology. “Our last three generations
have moved away from the nature and there is a loss of information over
a period of time. This move will help all the philately enthusiasts and
students who will get a chance to learn about these flowers,” said Dr.
D. Narasimhan, botanist.
