Jammu, Dec 19: Department of Posts has launched an innovative service for delivery of gift items on upcoming Christmas and New Year. Under the service the department will arrange the gift and deliver it at the desired address with greeting card.
Chief Postmaster General, J&K John Samuel addressing a press conference here today said the department is reaching out to the public by making special arrangements for the festival mails for last many years.
“The launch of the new service is an effort on the part of India Post to strengthen its bonding with public,” he added.
Giving details the Chief Postmaster General said that for the first time in the state, specialized service for delivery of gift items like cakes and nuts will be provided at Gandhi Nagar Head Post Office, here and GPO Srinagar.
He said people can approach Gandhi Nagar Head Post Office and Srinagar GPO and order for the cake or other gift items. “The items/gifts will be arranged by the department and delivered along with greeting card at the desired address in the Jammu city/Srinagar City on the same day,” he said.
“Post offices are meant not only for mail solutions, they can offer variety of services,” he said, adding that the delivery of gifts was an endeavor on their part to serve the people.
Samuel said the department has also made special arrangements for transmission of Christmas, new-year mails and gift items on this occasion.
“This service will be available at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and Srinagar GPO. Besides sending greeting cards public can also send gift material for which packaging material will be available at these offices,” he said.
The Chief Postmaster General said that greeting card for Christmas and New Year will also be available at the Srinagar GPO, Leh City Post Office, Floating Post Office Dal Lake Srinagar, Kathua and Gandhi Nagar Head Post Offices.
People desirous of posting greeting cards can also buy them from the Post Offices.
