Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle John Samuel, Monday dedicated modernized post offices at Ramban, Banihal and Batote to general public in the presence of large gatherings. The Post Offices have been modernized under the “Project Arrow” launched by the Department of Posts to revamp the ambiance of Post Offices and set their core operations right.
Hundreds of people who attended the dedication functions of Moderinzed Post Offices at Banihal, Ramban and Batote welcomed the move of India Post and especially appreciated the role of Chief PMG J&K for revamping the postal infrastructure in hilly areas of Ramban District. The Post Offices have been provided with the latest infrastructure with provision of Post Shops and will provide savings, insurance, money remittance besides traditional mailing services.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri John Samuel said that in order to facilitate the people of Ramban which is also a District Headquarter and of nearby important towns like Banihal and Batote the Post Offices have been upgraded to fit into the needs of the people. The Post Office now can serve customers in a better way.
“It is not only in the urban areas; India post is focusing on improved Postal infrastructure everywhere with customer friendly atmosphere. Upgradation of three post offices in district Ramban reiterates the commitment of India Post to provide best services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir irrespective of areas”, said Samuel. He further announced that all the vacant posts of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in Ramban district will be filled up soon. On the demand of public at Banihal, the Chief PMG assured review of mail arrangements from Srinagar and Jammu for Banihal.
He said that J&K Postal Circle is ambitiously looking for computerization and modernization of Post Office functioning adding that Jammu & Kashmir Postal Circle is committed for “Transformation” of Postal Network in Jammu and.
During the previous year also many Post Offices in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region were upgraded and modernized to make Post Office customer friendly, but during the current year a large scale upgradation of Post Offices slated to take place in Jammu & Kashmir said Shri John Samuel.
Professor Anil Gupta, Principal Government College Banihal, Professor B S Bhalwal Principal Government College Ramban and Raman Kesar CEO Patnitop Development Authority and Showkat Ahmad Paray Chief Account Officer J&K Postal Circle who were among the guest of honour at Banihal, Ramban and Batote respectively also spoke on the occasion while Shri Jagdeep Gupta, Director Postal Services, J&K presented the welcome address and Shri Vijay Chowdry, SPO’s Udhamur Postal Division presented the vote of thanks.
