Dear Comrades,
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Undelivered postal articles, including 924 book posts, 251 letters and
LIC health cards kept in six packets were found in a rented room of a
post man, employed on a temporary basis, in the district, police said.
Police seized the articles on Friday after information was received from the house owner, who opened the room when the postman was away as he had not paid rent for the last few months.
The articles were listed, sealed and handed over to the Thonnakkal post office, police said. The postman, Sam, was missing for the last few days.
Besides these articles, cheque books sent from banks and two appointment orders from Public Service Commission were also found in his room, the source said.
Postal department sources said they would take action against Sam for not distributing the postal items and file a complaint before police. A circular would be sent to all post offices in the division not to employ him any more.
The articles would soon be delivered by the permanent postman after processing, they said. Timesofindia.indiatimes.com
