Cyclonic Storm ‘PHAILIN’ weakened into deep depression over north Chhatisgarh and adjoining Odisha & Jharkhand

Sub: Cyclonic Storm ‘PHAILIN’ weakened into deep depression over north Chhatisgarh and adjoining Odisha & Jharkhand.

The cyclonic storm, PHAILIN over Odisha moved northwards with a speed of 20 kmph during past 6 hours, weakened further into a deep depression and lay centred at 1730 hrs IST of 13 th

October 2013 over north Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas of Odisha & Jharkhand near latitude 22.5 0

N and longitude 83.8 0 E, 70 km north-northwest of Jharsuguda & 90 km south-southeast of Ambikapur. The system would move northwards during next 6 hours, then north-northeastwards and weaken gradually into a depression during next 12 hours.

Warning for Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal

Heavy rainfall: Rainfall at many places with isolated heavy falls would occur over interior Odisha during next 12 hrs and decrease thereafter. Rainfall at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls would occur over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan Westbengal & Sikkim during next 48 hours. Rainfall at many places with isolated heavy falls over north Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, during next 12 hrs.

Very heavy rainfall in cms (15 cm or more) realised over Odisha during past 24 hours as recorded at 0830 hours IST of 13 October 2013.

Balimundali – 31, Banki-38, Ranpur-29, Jaipur-26, Mundali-25, Hindol-23, Bangirposhi-21, Banpur, Mohana, Korai 20 each,R-Udaygiri,Nuagada, Zoda, Danagadi 19 each, Purushottampur & Nayagarh 18 each, Khandapara, Bhubaneswar, Shamakhunta, Tikarpara, Daringibadi, Balipatna, Bargarh 17 each, Daitari, Phiringia, Betanati, Raikia, Keonjhargarh, Nimapara, Chandikhol, Tiring 15 each.

Squally wind: Squally wind speed of 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail around system centre during next 6 hours and would gradually decrease thereafter..
