A special programme was organized to mark World Post Day at Allahabad
Head Post Office located at Civil Lines on Wednesday. The chief guest on
the occasion was the postmaster general, Allahabad region, M E Haque,
who provided detailed information on a number of postal services and
felicitated current and former postal employees.
Explaining the working of the Universal Postal Union, Haque exhorted the postal officials to be dedicated towards their work. He said the Department of Posts is a huge organization and more revenue may be earned by establishing dialogue with people and educating them about the products and services offered.
Presiding over the programme, director postal services Krishna Kumar Yadav said the history of the department is linked with culture, heritage and economy of the Indian people. He said the Postal Department links the whole country from east to west and north to south in a chain of communication, and comes to the aid of people in their happiness and sorrows. The department has lasted for centuries and a number of unknown aspects of history are hidden in its glorious past, he added, elaborating on the important place the city holds in postal services. A number of postal services were started in Allahabad and the city has still preserved that heritage, Yadav said.
Postal employees were felicitated for remarkable performance in various fields on the occasion. These included Vinay Yadav, assistant superintendent of post offices (south), A K Singh, sub-divisional inspector (North), CL Mishra, sub postmaster, Daraganj for Postal Life Insurance, Ram Chandra Shukla, postman, Meja for Rural Postal Life Insurance, Rajnish Srivastava, marketing executive for business development, Vidhya Bhusan Pandey, postman, Allahabad City. The Postal Department also felicitated senior pensioners Radheyshyam Srivastava, Ram Sukh Shukla, Amrit Lal and Vidydhar Malviya.
