Workshop on changing postal trend

ALLAHABAD: The postal department organized a one-day workshop to apprise marketing executives about new products, the changing work scenario and ways to improve customer care at Allahabad GPO, Civil Lines on Saturday.

The workshop was inaugurated by director, Postal Services, Allahabad Region, Krishna Kumar Yadav. During the workshop, postal officials were updated with information about the new and upcoming changes and premium and financial products of the department of posts through a powerpoint presentation.

Addressing the programme, Yadav said India Post proposes to continue its efforts to harness its traditional strengths to modern management practices and appropriate technologies to become more responsive to public needs and expectations and to make services more customer friendly.

During the recent years, India Post has introduced many value added services, he said. Speed Post and Express Parcel Post remain most popular premium services, guarantee time-bound delivery within time limit, whereas Business Post offers total business solution for all mailing activities.

For corporate customers and for regular users, Speed Post offers home collection, credit facilities, on-line tracking, account management and personalized services. Media Post provides opportunities to corporate customer/government organizations and other large private institutions to have their products/services advertised on the postal stationeries, letter boxes, mail van, post office premises etc. E-Post is facility of transmitting and receiving messages through internet even for those who are not connected with the net. By using e-Post, e mail can be sent to a Post office for delivery through the Postman.

Yadav said that the postal workers' activities in the field create an image of the department, so they have to be more courteous and responsive towards customers. In this era of competition, one could not sit idle to earn business, he said. Instead, one had to approach customers, interact with them and make them aware of the different services.

Senior superintendent of Post Offices, Allahabad Division, Rahmatullah said that proper monitoring is being done on all the premium services. On the occasion, T B Singh, assistant director (business development), Vinay Yadav, ASP (South), Ashish Srivastva, ASP (BD), Deepak Kumar, Inspector Post (Project Arrow) gave their presentations on powerpoint.
